How do I figure out what is eating up data?

Is there any way of determining exactly what has used data at any given time? I had a data usage of over 16 mb at 8:56 am this morning. I have had similar large data usages lately, but these are recent. I have loaded new apps and know that auto-updates can account for this (this seems to be an auto-update just based on the time of day). I know I could just disable recent apps and I can turn off data to manage usage, but neither option is very practical. A more useful approach would be to determine exactly what what the 16 mb this morning. My invoice doesn't tell me that. It just says I used 16 mb. Any way of determining what has used data at any given time on any given day?

I have an LG G3.

Going through settings and data usage will show you by the app/system process what is using that data.

I don't know how to do that. I have seen a screen that showed me overall data usage - but don't know how to get back there. But I have no idea how to see what data I used at 8:56 am this morning. Any suggestions?

For the Lg G3, go to Settings from either swiping down from the top and hitting the gear icon, or Apps, Settings, and then go to Mobile data. Scrolling down from there will show you all the apps and processes using data. Tap on whichever app or process to see more detailed data. I cannot recall if on LG's it will show exact timings for data use or not. Hopefully someone with more Lg G3 experience than I can chime in.

Thanks Goran, this is helpful. No it doesn't show me day by day usage. The other thing is that is that it only shows me usage by app for the last 30 calendar days. How do I change that to correspond to my billing cycle? eg my data usage is showing from May 20 - June 19,  but my new billing cycle started June 14 so I have no visibility into what happened  between June 14 and June 16.

Tap on the dates at the top of the data usage page. You should see a drop down menu with an option to change the dates being displayed or change the cycle.

It gives me the option of changing the dates displayed but only with the same 30-day cycle. No option to change the cycle

IIRC you must set a monthly data use limit first before that pops up. You can see a visual step-by-step guide if you Google "bell support data cycle LG g3." it should be the first return. Let us know if that doesn't work.
