How can I found out which local calling area I'm in?

When people call me from my local area, they sometimes get told that they are making a long distance call. Additionally, when I call others, it informs them that the call is coming from a different part of Canada (100 Mile House, not Kelowna). Is there any way I can tell what my local call area is with my phone? Is there any way that the Koodo agent set it up wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Neil

The local calling area is the first three digits of your phone. For example mine is 438 and Montreal is my local calling area. What are your first 3 digits?

The area code is 250 and the next three digits are 644 - (250) 644 XXXX

So by those numbers, you or your phone reside in 100 Mile House. 250-644 is located near 100 Mile House, British Columbia, Service Provider TELUS Mobility. So this should be your local calling area.

Thanks. I'm with Koodo, but I guess that they use Telus numbers. I'll have to see if I can get a new number nearer to home

You can change your number in another community in the same province in self serve, to my knowledge.
