I will be starting a new job November 17th in another country. I purchased my iphone with Koodo about a year ago and wish to bring this phone with me. I am aware that it must be unlocked in order to use in the other country.
1. Can I do this unlock process myself? Or must I take it into Koodo and/or another vendor?
2. Once the phone is unlocked, can I use it within Canada? (I am trying to understand ifthe implications if I were to unlock it a few weeks in advance of my departure)

Since it is an iphone, it is much cheaper to do it though Koodo ($35). Any 3rd party unlocker will charge you $100+ typically.

There are no negative implications to unlocking your phone. If anything, you can use your phone with any canadian carrier once unlocked.
