Hi. I have recently opted for pre-authorized payment from my chequing account. I don't have a credit card. However when I checked my bill details it says this "The total amount due will be charged to your credit card 15 days from your bill date." I am confused why they mentioned credit card. Please help

This is the email you received, right Sagnik? If yes, the reference to credit card was only an example to what can be updated online. I see that you are indeed correctly set up on your chequing account.

No I didn't get an email like this. This statement appearing when I open my billing details from "self service". Recently I received a mail stating " since your first previous authorized payment won't take effect until your next bill, you'll need to make a payment by the due date to avoid late payment charges"

Sorry I attached a wrong image. I wanted to add this. So what does the last line say and do I still need to pay manually this bill?

You can make your first payment manually from the same bank account you used to set up your pre-authorized payments - you just have to do the first one manually. After that, it will be withdrawn automatically.

Sagnik, this is a public forum so there are lot of customers commenting on their experience too. And they are right, typically for pre-auth set up we advise customers that they may have to make a payment for the first bill. This depends on how close or far they are in their bill cycle. If you for example just set up pre-auth today and your bill is due in a few days it's pretty much guaranteed the auto payment will not go through. Given you due date is more than 3 weeks away, you should be fine as your auto payment should go through no problem.

As people asked me to wait for the pre-authorized payment, I did wait for 15days. However my bill was not paid. Now I am afraid that I will end up in paying extra for the delay. I had applied for the credit card and it is still under process. Please help.

Yes but as i opted for pre-authorized payment on 28th of January, I was informed that it will take care of my first bill also. That's what people here wrote to me. I did apply for the credit card but the bank is delaying the procedure and I fear that I might not get the credit card before the 21st of February. Without any fault of mine it seems that I have to pay the late fees...

Sagnik - it typically takes one full billing cycle for your pre-authorized payment method to kick in. As Allan pointed out, it won't pay this upcoming bill, but should begin automatically applying payments moving forward.

For this bill, you can pay online through self-serve, or by dialing #123 using a Visa Debit card - if you have one. If you do not, you can also set-up Koodo as a payee and make a payment through online banking, or directly at your bank (account number can be found on your PDF eBill, also available in self serve). Keep in mind that payments made through your bank may take 3-5 business days to process. If you do this today, you should be fine and have your payment posted by the due date.

Bernard said that it "should". I would double check all the information you have inputted is right and if it still doesnt work find an alternate way to pay so you don't have to pay the 2% late fee and so that it doesnt go into your credit history. (A prepaid Visa would probably be the best option in your situation)

Thank you.
I did pay the bill just now using online net banking. So I suppose that it will be ok now.

Thanks for your reply Sagnik! Payment via online banking usually take 2 to 5 business days as it's the time that it takes for your financial institution to transfer the payment. You can dial *611 from your Koodo phone and select option 1 to confirm the last payment received or log into your Self Serve to check the updated balance.

Hope this helps!
