If you're on prepaid, then you have 90 days from when your service is turned off to retain your account and phone number. During this time, you are unable to port your number until you put some money on your account and make it active again.

On post-paid, as long as you have service, your phone number is yours. If your phone is suspended however, you are unable to port.

Be sure to keep your account in good standing at all times.

Keep in touch with Koodo about your post paid account so that they do not terminate your service based on a lack of activity and bill payments.

Be aware that using the suspend option counts as a plan change, that means when you're ready to use your phone again you'll have to choose a new plan. Depending on the plan you have now, it may be a better option just to pay your bill as if nothing was different.

Sorry, I should have clarified. My use of the word suspension in this case was for when you have not paid your bill and your service is terminated but still capable of being returned.

Post-paid --> Call *611 and ask for a brief seasonal hold for the 40 days. Just keep in mind you may have to choose a new plan upon your return.

Pre-paid --> Just pay for your service when you return to turn your service back on. No biggie.

Hi Mayumi as long as you pay for your prepaid service before 90 days of not using prepaid you'll be able to keep your #. Not Jeff mentioned this in his first answer. :)
