Hi Roxanne,

I would suggest you call Koodo directly about this. It does seem a little odd that they charged more for the taxes, and it is not something we can look into from here

Edit: I've asked one of our liaisons to look into this for you. Shouldn't be very long

Did your total before taxes increase compared to before?

Hey Roxanne,

Our liaisons took a look at this for you, and it appears as though you received a roaming add-on credit, however the credit does not include taxes for it. That is why you have higher than normal taxes on your account. You should be able to see this on page 3 of your e-bill.

Alright thanks for looking it to this.
Can this be adjusted ? Not sure Koodo needs more money from me for the government for a service they did not deliver.

I don't think they will adjust that. You've been credited for the add-on but they can't credit taxes associated to the add-on.

If they can charge taxes for a purchase, they should certainly be able to credit them on a "return". That's just the normal practice everywhere at the retail level.

@BobTheElectrician,
   I recall from other posts that if Koodo reimburses the client as a goodwill gesture, the taxes are not refundable, as the purchase (in this case a roaming package) was provided, and is considered consumed according to taxation legislation. While Koodo could reimburse the amount including taxes, they are likely unable to recoup those from the government.

FYI.

Koodo was able to do the refund and agreed that the difference was strange. I quote :

"I contacted my support team and we were able to find that as you mentioned there is an strange difference in taxes. We were able to make an adjustment on your bill; now your balance is $61.40."

Thanks y'all. Thanks for playing fair Koodo!
