Hey Koodo, why are your plans so much better in Manitoba instead of Ontario?

Koodo, why do you offer a plan like the following in Ontario:

$45/month
-Unlimited Minutes
-Unlimited Texting
-1GB of Data

and the following in Manitoba:

$48/month
-Unlimited Minutes
-Unlimited Texting
-5GB of Data

This seems super unfair, and like you are taking advantage of all of your Ontario customers if you can afford to offer better plans somewhere else! What do you have against all of your customers living in Ontario??

Because Manitoba and Saskatchewan have different provider and competitors, like in Saskatchewan, Saskatel offers super cheap plans with high amounts of data. It all depends on the market of that specific area. Like in quebec the plans are around 10$ cheaper too.

Customers remember stuff like this. Ontario won't always be "competition-free".

Manitoba has MTS. So I guess competition does lower prices

Part of the reason I think MTS and SaskTel are able to offer such aggressive pricing is because they are the last couple government owned telco's. So they can offer that pricing because the government is kicking in money as well.

SaskTel is government owned.

MTS was government owned (Manitoba Telephone System) but was sold in the 90s and is now a private entity that is publicly traded as Manitoba Telecom Services.

It was what brought down the PC party here.  A lot of voters disagreed with the selling of MTS

I stand corrected, I thought both were still government owned.

But both SaskTel and MTS just have so much legacy development that they have the best coverage.  They also offer TV and Internet which allows them to easily bundle.  They are major players in their market

So what does it take to introduce a viable competitor to create this effect in Ontario? .....

A large regional carrier that has a strong foothold of the landline, cable, and internet market.

MB has MTS, SK, has SaskTel, and QC has Videotron.
