Hey, i just spend 1 hr and 30 mins on hold with koodo support, that in and of itself isnt that bad, but what worries me now is will this hour and half call show up on my bill or use up my anytime minutes for the month? i feel odd thinking i may be charged for time koodo kept me on hold just to ask a 5 minute question

So long as you called via 611 you are not charged. Otherwise if you called the toll free number standard charges apply as applicable, such as daytime minutes or prepaid minutes will be used up. Is there something that we can help you with right now here?

Problem is toll free just isn't truly free on mobile. Another option for the future if you cannot call 611 is to use Google Hangouts, skype, Fongo, Textnow, or other similar VoIP services so you don't incur charges while outside of Canada.

ok, simple question, will an extra charge of any kind show up on my bill in addition to the anytime minutes usage?

It should not so long as it was placed within a North American Number Plan (NANP)country. So you should be fine.

all toll free numbers show up as American (800, 888, 855, 844, 866, 877, etc) as those area codes are registered in the US, even if the full number is owned by a Canadian company.  Your phone tells you where the call is from based on the area code
