Anyone else having their cell phone number being used as a "mask" or "spoof" to hide someone's real phone number from displaying?

Here's the deal: started yesterday, already have 3 people calling me, telling me that they are returning my call because my number was on their phone - here's the thing: I NEVER called them, Koodo has NO RECORD of me calling them, and one lady basically called me a liar and said I probably butt dialed her.

is anyone else having this problem? I called Koodo customer service and they told me some BS how it was probably someone giving out my number at bars - THAT does not explain how my phone number is showing up on their phones.

Tell me: do I have to change my phone number? and how do I stop this from happening and how do I get Koodo to actually take this seriously?

Unfortunately, this happens more and more, Daisy :( You are right, it's not likely your number got given out. What WOULD have happened: a VOIP is used to call people with a spam message, which uses a random number to call thousands of people... it seems your number was used this round :(

The only options you have, I'm afraid, is wait it out till they use another number again, or change your number.

Believe me, I feel your pain, the EXACT same thing happened to us and we had to change our number...

I've had it happen to me once or twice and I know it's happened to my friends but since that, nothing has ever happened for me. They are spoofing your number. You can either just see if it stops or you could change your phone number if you wanted through self-serve serve (it's free). Those are basically your only two options

ok- great...I thought this was the case. I guess I'll see if it stops- its a shame because I am in the middle of applying for jobs that use that number...

I guess I can suffer through for the next month or so and if it continues change my number after that...

perfect timing (sarcasm).

I know... I hope your sarcasm is directed at the international spammers though, as Koodo (or anybody who provides phone numbers) can't help this. Unfortunately it's very easy to spoof a number!

It's never a good time to have this happen to you. Sorry to hear that and hope that it stops.
