Hey guys! i just bought a samsung galaxy s3. after a quick usage of the phone i already hate it quite a bit but also when i first tried to connect to wifi it didnt allow me to do so. it would go to "obtaining IP adress" and then say that the connection was too weak except it said the wifi was "Very Strong". im sure the password was correct and i had a decent signal.

Hi Benjamin,

What do you not like about the S3? Afaik it's a nice phone :)
About obtaining the IP address from your WiFi, I had this too and when I reset the router, WiFi worked flawlessly on my phone (this was the S4). Try that and also try to reboot the phone itself, see if that solves it :)

Ack! You can't access your WiFi still? Is it just that particular network, or any WiFi network (try Starbucks or so if that connects)

As for the S3 being laggy, it really shouldn't be, it was Samsung's top phone when it came out and it's still pretty high end even now. Can you mention examples when and how it gets laggy? What is hard to navigate?

Also, if you really don't like the phone, you can return it within 14 days - don't suffer if you really hate it: take it back to the store! :D

DID you buy the phone from Koodo?
Try going into your phones wifi settings and make sure it's set to the proper frequency for your router or set it to auto.

To offer an additional comment to your S3 Lag.
Like desktop OS, a lot of the time it comes with bloatware. HP Desktop Support, for eg. Androids are no different. Remove the clutter and your RAM will speed up. :) Also try removing additional screens you're not using including the large widgets.

The only way to remove bloatware would be to root the phone. You can't uninstall preinstalled applications as there's no option to.

You cant remove the bloatware however you can disable some factory installed apps (bloatware) in the app manager section of your devices settings. Not recommended if you don't know what your doing as some apps can be critical for system functions or other apps to function properly however.

Actually you can completely remove pre-installed factory bloatware. I've managed to remove Touchwiz Home, Downloads, Messaging, Samsung Keyboard, (ditched Samsung's keyboard for Hacker's keyboard), AllShare, Bluetooth Share, Clock, Android Live Wallpapers, Music Hub to name a few.

If you're going to delve into this sort of stuff, always make a full backup of the stock ROM. Paul's warning still stands, that if you don't know what you're doing, you can cause serious damage to the device and you do so at your own risk.

These aren't disabled apps, I've completely removed them from my S2x and saved them to a microSD card in the event I want to return the device back to factory spec. At preset, my S2x is running stock with root access. The difference is like night and day, faster response time with almost zero lag. I use the paid version of NoBloat - awesome app!

USSD codes in that format will only work with earlier versions of Android, typically 4.0.4 and below and won't work with JellyBean.
