I broke my screen on my s4 and a week later it started stalling and glitching and turning on and off, I took it to the flea-market and they downloaded some software for free and fixed it temporarily, then they told me to go home and charge it before I turn it on then go and backup and restore everything because they don't know how long it will work for, instead I turned it on without letting it get charged past 0% and it hasn't been able to turn on again. Yesterday however it turned on for a few minutes, so that is a good sign. I need to find-out whats wrong with my phone, then either get it fixed or get a new phone, or get a cheap new phone then get my laptop fixed instead. Its a tough call and I don't know of any trustworthy cheap phone repair places. Please help me find some, try to help me see whats wrong with my phone and why it wont turn on and why it turns on and off when it does turn on and please help me restore and backup my phone to my email, thanks. My email address is jordwill88@hotmail.com

What exactly do you want to backup? If you use Hotmail, all your emails will be there and your apps will be available from the Google store.

So what else is on the phone itself?

Well that would be the obvious lol, I want my numbers, pics, music and videos and recordings. The screen wont turn on 98% of the time and when it does you cant press anything it just turns on and off again until it gets too hot and stops. I have to take the battery out to prevent that.

You might be able to get this off the phone with Android Smart Switch Software, or by connecting your phone to your laptop with a cable, and downloading the files.
Your music and videos might be able to be re-downloaded from the music store.

I assume you did not choose to automatically transfer any of your photos to Google photo.

I probably shouldn't try to restore it or turn it on until I see someone about it, or I could make it worse. I think in order to dl the software to fix it and to sync my phone to my email I need to be able to have the phone on and stay on. So idk this isn't looking good.

idk what software that is, my laptop broke down too lol. With android you have to have the phone on and stay on or it will just keep starting over again and not automatically either, manually. Its like the kodi app lol.

Hopefully its the powerbutton or battery and software and not a hardware issue, even so it might be worth it to fix it over getting a new phone and more expensive plan these days, does anyone know of a good unlimited talk phone plan and company other than koodo?

Broken screen and all the other problems... I wouldn't spend another penny on your S4. As Sophia says, most of your essentials and contacts should be available to restore to a new phone, as long as it's Android.

How long does screen mirroring take? The biggest thing is I don't want to lose my numbers etc. As far as I know and fom what I've heard, the iPhone is the only phone that automatically backs up everything. Androids you have to manually sync everything and I didn't but I am hoping the screen will able to be turned on long enough to do that and to let the phone repair place dl the software to fix it. I know its not the lcd difubalor or the motherboard because the screen wouldn't work or be able to be turned on at all if that's the case. So it has to be the charger port, the battery or the power button and definitely a software issue. Ive gotten free estimates. It is a tough call whether or not I should get a new phone and more expensive plan in order to do so, or pay the same amount for a cheap flip phone and get my laptop fixed instead, or go to a new company other than koodo, or get my phone fixed and get a new motherboard for 80$ I can't decide, it depends on if it can be fixed or not. What would you guys suggest.
