Was your phone disconnected for non payment before the made payment your referring to?

If not then make sure your phone isn't on airplane mode or that it's not set to 2g or gsm only in the settings menu under networks.
If those don't work try turning off your phone and removing the SIM Card and reseating it again incase it's not connecting properly to the pins in the SIM slot. Turn it back on and see if that helped.
