Has Koodo TechSupport had Q10 training yet????

I got one of the first Q10s sold in Toronto. Thing is super buggy. Tried to get help from Koodo Tech Support but the poor guys hadn't even SEEN a Q10 yet. They were, understandably, completely useless at providing support.

So far, BBhelp on FB, twitter and community have also been useless aka no responses. Crackberry has been helpful in identifying resources but they seem to think Koodo would actually be helpful in support for some reason. Can'e expect tech support to be helpful if they haven't had any training nor have access to ANY resouces.

This is my first week with Koodo so I dunno if service is always this brutal. Any suggestions on how else i can get help?

I can only get word substitution to work in emails and messaging right now, it won't work in the browser, I'm sure this will be corrected with an update shortly.

What do you mean by turning autofill off? You don't need to use autofill, you can just type in the browser normally without using the suggestions....

Are you wanting to have the suggested words off at all times?

Word substitution was briefly working for me in emails and text but no longer works there so you're luckier than I. And yeah, it never worked in the browser.

Autofill is a different issue -- when you enter text in the browser, do you get an autofill with 5 choices (the last 5 sentences you entered that started with the same word/letters you just entered)? the autofill options pop up and fill about 80% of the entire screen, making it difficult to continue entering text. I've tried turning off suggested words to remove this 'feature' but no luck.

you make a good point about Suggested Words too. I WOULD also like suggested words off at all times, but i can live with it if it cannot be turned off. It's not one of my most aggravating issues (though a bother). It wouldn't make me return the device.

the word substitution issue will make me return for sure. i don't want to keep this device and wait for an update "sometime" given bb's lack of responsiveness on the issue so far.

I would maybe try a reboot and see if the autocorrect 'settles down' and begins to work as desired.

Regarding entering text in the browser, are you talking about the search feature? Like when you begin to enter a URL it starts populating potential search terms? You can turn this off in the browser settings.

Hello Katie,

Yes the entirety of Koodo did get a chance for a training for the Q10, its not mandatory, only optional. But considering its the tech support it should be mandatory for them. I highly recommend asking for a manager if they are giving you vague answers. OR better yet, call the direct manufacturer, blackberry if it is hardware and software related.

can you give me a number to call blackberry? I have tried on Facebook, tweeted em, and posted on their community forum and gotten no response. I would be willing to call and give em a try though

under "CALL" for blackberry smartphones, it directs the user to their carrier "Your carrier can answer questions about technical support, network coverage and billing. Check your cellular bill for your provider's contact details." Other options include what i have tried already.

Fwiw, i have already tried the other options listed -- Tweet @BlackBerryHelp AND Community forums

Unless you think i should call the number for "enterprise software"?? maybe?

it is very similar, but not quite.... when entering text into a field on a webpage (say a forum) it starts populating with other sentences you have entered in the past. It's like turning on "autofill" on your computer browser.

so if you enter "The ..." a box with past entries will pop up

The cat is black and jumped over the house and ran down the yard and
The stove is on
The etc.

This is not related to the text being a URL and I can't figure out what the character limit is but the options are quite lengthy (cos my sentences are, lol). That said, I did turn this feature off in the brower settings and it does not seem to affect the autofill at all (though it DOES turn off the search suggestions) so YAY for one setting that actually works.

How do i do a reboot (is there a little internal button someplace)? I have done a few battery pulls to no avail.

Katie that's odd, mine doesn't do that. I would make sure in Language and Input that "show predictions" is off, and I would clear the learned words. Under "auto correct with spacebar" I would turn that off as well. Then I would do a reboot. Hold down the power button for 3 seconds. See if that works. If it doesn't, then I would do a backup via BB LINK, and then do a device wipe, and restore. It's a pain in the ass but it should help, mine certainly isn't functioning like that.

hey! okay, the wipe kinda worked. it brought back word substitution in email and sms. still got autofill going on in the browser, and no word substitution. i think maybe bb has comms dialed but is just behind on the browser functions.

Honestly, if you're having this issue, I'm sure some others are as well. I'd imagine this would get corrected with an update, and it shouldn't be too long. The z10 has had numerous updates already and another big one will be pushed in the next couple weeks. Maybe just hang tight for now, if possible.
