You will need to find out who the original carrier was. I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Without some sort of branding on the device or a splash screen when you start up, it's difficult to say. Try contacting the original owner

Once you've got that information you'll also need the IMEI of the device which you can get by dialing *#060#.

As far as the un lock code check eBay or GSMliberty.com

I'm older bb versions you had to enter special codes to get to the unlocking screen. I suggest you check out YouTube as people have likely posted videos of how to do it.

Also did you check with protectmydata.ca to see if the bb was listed as lost or stolen?

If you're using the phone with Koodo it will work fine. Otherwise if you don't have a koodo account and you're looking to use this phone with another carrier you'd have to return the phone where you purchased from. The only other option would be to get 3rd party site to unlock your blackberry such as celllocker.net or GSMlibery.com

He Is trying to use it with Koodo and it's not working.

He purchased it as a private sale.

Without the carrier name you won't be able to purchase the correct unlock code

You mentioned it's Hard Locked. When you go to Options -> Security and Privacy -> Sim Card, hit Unlock Network, how many tries you have left? (hit Cancel to avoid lowering your count).
If it's Zero, you are out of luck, unfortunately.

Do you have koodo locked Blackberry now? Do you want to unlock it to use other sim cards? If yes, use unlock code to unlock it . You can get it from any of the online vendors like http://www.unbblock.com/blackberry/rs... to unlock it . After unlocking your phone from koodo, you can use any other GSM carriers internationally .
