Group text on BlackBerry z30

When I type in 2 or more names in the texr/sms app in my be z30 I don't get the enable group conversation option which is supposed to send the message as mms according to the car cherry forums. I remember having this option when I was with bell on the same Z30. Now I don't have it with koodo. Is it carrier specific? Does koodo nor support group text with bb?

What version of the firmware are you running? 10.2.1? 10.3?

I don't have a selection for group text but I can add more than one recipient and the device auto switches to MMS when I add the second recipient.

Thanks for your reply. I was on 10.3.0.1418 before. Now I'm on 10.2
1.3014. Never got the option to send it as mms when I select 2 recipients.

What's your exact os version? -

I'm not presented an option, in just added a second recipient and the phone sent it.

Did both the recipients get the msg as a group? I sent this also. But both of them get the Msg individually.

Hard to tell since I'm texting myself. I can see both parties in the conversation but I don't think the other parties are aware it's a group conversation which I'm not sure can be done over MMS anyway. BBM yes but MMS I think it's more of a broadcast to those individuals

I am able to reply individually and it shows in the conversation.

I noticed this as well.
On Bell, I get the option for Group messaging. If that is not selected, it turns to broadcast, which I think (but not sure) stays on sms.

That said, I don't find group messaging works well, at least with the contacts I frequently try this with. Replies always come back as separate sms and usually are out of context

Can anyone else test this on Z30 with Koodo? It still doesnt work. When I send a text to more than 1 person, they all get it individually - not as a group msg.

Group texting only means your sending all the recipient's the same message. If your looking for group chatting, use bbm

Well, I can group chat via mms on my z30 with Bell to Android users on Rogers. Koodo doesn't have the option to group chat via mms

And there's a reason why you had to mention the type of phone that was able to, Ry. It's not carrier specific. It's a phone functionality. People don't seem to understand that.

To a certain extent, yes, it's phone specfic. I found iPhones really choke on tiis, and usually send out individual sms. However, koodo doesn't support group mms at all. The option is simply not there when composing a message with multiple people. On Bell, i get the choice. If unchecked, it is sent as a broadcast, which is individual sms. If group is checked, then it sends as mms, and I can name the Chat to give it a topic, and see the list of people in the chat, including ones i don't have in my address book (if someone else started the chat).

OK. That explains it - it sucks that Koodo doesn't support this when every other carrier supports it.

Any comments from Koodo here?

It's not a carrier feature. You just don't understand how group messaging is actually suppose to work on specific phones. There's no need for Koodo to comment on something they have no control over. Take your concerns to the different phone manufacturers of all phones and tell them to change the way 'group' messages are sent.

No it is not phone specific.
As I mentioned in my first post, with the same Z30, I was able to send group texts as MMS when I was with Bell.

Now that I'm on Koodo, it doesn't work anymore. So it is something to do with Koodo. I've raised this topic on crackberry forum and got the same response. People who're using Z30 with bell and rogers are able to send group texts as MMS

I have the same problem with my Android phone on Koodo. I can't be part of MMS group messages either. And again, it is not phone specific, or even app specific. I agree that it is likely a carrier issue.
