OnePlus 2 OxygenOS 3.1.0 Android 6.0.1 Koodo

How to properly set up group messaging between iPhones and other Androids. MMS set to "group MMS" or "Chat". Currently the other Android user is able to respond to the group but the iPhone users receive both our texts as individual text messages from us. Messages seem to send to the group even when my data isn't on sugesting they aren't sending as MMS. Is there any APN changes that can be recommended?

Everywhere I look people seem to have succeeded so I'm looking for an recommendations on how to get this to work.

Unfortunately, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or other internet based messengers are not an option.

Notes:

Have always owned and Android so no iMessage unregistration is needed

Have is set to "Legacy" MMS mode currently

Hi there, group MMS is supported by our Koodo SMS engine, and typically, whether it works or not depend on phones capabilities. No special APN manipulation is required. Does it work on all involved Koodo customers? If it does, I suggest the others verify with their carriers. Also, make sure their iPhone data is on and working, and that "MMS messaging" is turned on. I would also disable iMessage to see if it works. It is also possible that they"re on an older iOS version that do not support group MMS.

One of the other members is with Koodo however she is using an iPhone she only receives the messages when her Data is on (because they are MMS) but she receives them as individual messages not as a group message.

The other Android user is with Rogers but is able to see the group conversation and respond/receive MMS in it.

I will try turning on MMS on the iPhone and turning off iMessage later today. Any other suggestions?

Seems to me that it's really an iPhone related "limitation" rather than carrier. Perhaps try to reach out to Apple to see what they say? If they blame it on carrier availability, you can mention it works with you guys using Androids :)

Koodo enabled group messaging for iOS this week (May 5th)... so it was carrier availability!

Yep, seems like we were misinformed. We worked with Apple and enabled it with the latest carrier update. Our messaging platform supported it all along, but we needed a special setting enabled on iPhones.
