Gmail 2-step verification SMS

I have 2-step verification set up on my Gmail account. This generates a code to be sent via SMS or voice. The SMS option worked when I was on Speakout, but since I switched to Koodo prepaid these text messages never arrive. Using a voice call to receive the code works immediately.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Gmail? Thanks.

I suspect that Google does not have the necessary access to Koodo's network in order to receive the code (I seem to recall calendar SMS notifications not working, but it's not a service that I use so I'm just speculating).

I also suspect that this is the reason why Google has a code delivery by voice option to begin with.

Thanks, Ivan. Calendar SMS notifications do work (they appear to come from 9999999999), but the 2-step verification codes don't.

Good to know. This was a while back and not that relevant to me, but now if anyone is wondering, they can see it here :)

If you don't want to use voice, the Google Authenticator app for iOS, Android and Blackberry can generate verification codes, even without data access.

Prepaid is like that. Not all short message codes work.
