You can go to a Koodo kiosk and they will check your credit. Either they will say no, yes, or put you on a spending limit program.

The other option is to go prepaid. No credit check is required

That might be a good thing, it will mean you have no negative credit either :)

To add to all these excellent replies, if you end up getting a Koodo tab and plan, paying your bill always on time will give you a nice, higher credit score that will come in handy later on in life when you're ready for bigger projects!

Kayla: You are not required to have a credit card, even though it simplifies the process. Koodo will simply run a credit check on you and they'll make a decision on whether you're approved or not. The process takes seconds. You need 2 pieces of ID with photos too.

If you're approved, you can leave the kiosk, phone in hand, minutes later. To pay your bill, you can simply register your Koodo bill through your bank and use this to make your monthly payments. It takes 3-5 business days to process, so make sure you pay a couple of days early to cover this. Credit cards payments are immediate.

Hope it helps!

By the way, if you're successful getting a Koodo tab and plan, now might be a good time to also check into getting a student credit card (if you're a student, of course). The limit ceiling is low enough to not get you into trouble, and it also helps building a positive credit rating. Oh, and it also gives you an easy way to pay your phone bill :P

Did you ever end up needing credit?

I never needed to have credit, due to the fact that I had been working since a young age and had been filing my income tax, they had record of my pay- which equaled a credit equivalent and I got approved on the spot!
