Hi I was wondering if im able to get a printed copy of text messages sent from a certain number that are no longer on my phone? I'm willing to pay for it of course. Does Koodo save my message history even if ive deleted it? If so, for how long?

Hello Zachariah.

There's no such thing because it would be violation of private propriety...Koodo only registers the time/date/number you sent the messages to.

If you have a Samsung device like the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 & possibly other phones from Samsung, you can go to your Samsung Account & if you had a Samsung Account set up chances are you will be able to recover your SMS that has been backed up to this Samsung account. Just go to settings on the phone & choose your Samsung account & click on the account to sync, if you backed it up they will be there.
If you don't have a Samsung let me know what phone you have and there may be a solution.

Hey Zachariah, the only way to be able to obtain a copy of text messages after they are deleted from the phone is through a court order from a judge.

So if I get a court order from a judge, who do I present it to to obtain deleted text messages?

There would be a legal channel the courts will follow to get such information. You wouldn't be doing that sort of leg work yourself

You should probably give a call to Koodo and talk with some head chied or something. It's not the Koodo's customer service present at a kiosk who will do this.

Calling Koodo will not get the information needed. Even if a court order was given. She would only be able to go through the courts. They would know what to do :)

Suggestion to all: if you are on android use SMS Backup+ it syncs all your text messages (in and out) with your gmail account. (even has a neat little SMS label) I have all text messages that i sent or received for the last 2 years available at the click of a mouse.. (and gmail searchable...)

TELUS routinely makes electronic copies of all the text messages sent or received by its subscribers and stores them on a computer database for a period of 30 days.
(Source: Supreme Court of Canada)

Koodo is a subsidiary of TELUS.

You or your attorney can attempt to subpoena the text messaging records from the service provider, a formal document that clearly identifies why you are requesting printed copies of deleted text messages.

The service provider's legal department has the right to dismiss these requests, citing that the request violates or infringes upon one's personal right to privacy. Text messaging has become a protected form of communication, similar to that of voice communication, the only difference is the method of transmission.

If you feel the matter requires further legal involvement or that the service providers' decision is unwarranted, you may want to appeal the decision through the court system. A court order may be served, but only on the grounds that it does not infringe upon or violate a person's right to privacy.

Not sure I understand the question; you want to delete all texts on your phone from one number? The s3 automatically groups messages into conversations on the first page of the messaging app. Just tap and hold on the conversation in question and choose delete conversation.

See Rikkster's post above this one regarding the text messages and how you would get them.

Now because iPhone uses iMessage for some messages these are not text messages and go through Apple's system (using data). They would be harder to get a copy of.
