Getting a new smartphone when you have a BYOP (bring your own phone plan)

I have the 10 gb promotional plan for $60, which is not eligible with a tab, so I can't get any tab with Koodo for a new phone. I am planning to upgrade to a new phone soon, but is there any way I can make monthly payments on a new phone without getting a tab? The retail price for my phone is over $1000 and I'd prefer to not pay the full amount right away and finance it instead (monthly payments). I'm even willing to do a down payment of up to $400 and then start monthly payments from there.

Unless you switch your plan or start up a new account, then there are no options for you with Koodo.
You may be able to find stores willing to finance an unlocked phone for you.

What you describing that you want is exactly what a tab is a no interest loan for getting a new phone so like Allan stated no its impossible from Koodo. What you can do is put it on your credit card and then just pay off part of your credit card bill each month, this will however contain interest on top of the price of the device. Your best bet is to build that $400 up by saving until you do have the amount to buy a unlocked device outright if you want to keep that killer plan.

I can afford the phone for $1000, but I was wondering if there was a way to finance the new phone without paying interest, so I didn't have to pay the whole amount right away

Only way to get finance/ Tab is that you need to change your plan to one of Tab plan. But, I don't know if anyone want to give up that promo plan...  :(
