Getting a bill when i thought I was prepaid

I took a plan in Canada a month ago. I took a 36.5$ plan and I was in canada just for a week. I thought this was a prepaid and I sort of confirmed with the store that I would not be charged automatically and was told I need to pay my bill online to renew. But it looks like I am on some sort of post paid plan and getting charged for international roaming now. I am confused. I did not even expect Koodo to work in the US but it was working but I did not know I am getting charged for it. They should have at least called me about this. What do I do? I don't need this number but I don't want to get a bill. I thought this was prepaid!

Did you go through a credit check using ID and so on because prepaid accounts don't go through a credit check. You say 'I was told I need to pay my bill online to renew', there are no bills with prepaid. If you signed an agreement, you signed up for postpaid services and you will get a bill! TURN OFF THE PHONE!

But I was charged 36.5$ upfront - not sure what that was then! I don't know what sort of credit check was done. This is silly.

How do I talk to someone from Koodo about this?

Not sure what is there to talk about. They can't do much. You signed a paper with a bunch of your initials explaining what you are signing up for. Did you read that?

So I needed the number just for 1 week as I was visiting Canada - did not bother reading much as I had done this in the US for a month before with no problem.

I just want to talk to them to say "Listen, I've stopped using your service and don't need it anymore. I used it in the last week thinking it was prepaid and will just run out if I go over what I paid for. Now don't mind paying for my usage, but apply any roaming plans, etc to make sure it is reasonable."

Sounds like you indeed bought a monthly plan that needs to be cancelled as the others have already stated. Prepiad would have been better.

Call Koodo at 647-788-4337.
If you did sign up a monthly plan, you'll need to cancel it.
