Galaxy S3 data

Hello, I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3 and had a couple question about data.

I have data included on my plan, which I mostly for mms messages. On my old phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) I was able to go to the APN settings for the Koodo SP and change the APN type to and from 'internet + mms' and 'mms.' This was really handy so I didn't get overcharged for data that I was unaware of using. However, on my new phone (Galaxy S3) when I go to the Koodo SP APN, all the categories are grayed out and I am unable to change the APN type. Is there any way I can get those "unblocked" and be able to change the APN type? If not, how do I block the background data and auto updates?

Thanks.

What you'll have to do is manually add a new APN that is identical to the existing one but you'll be able to only put "mms" in that spot.

Would I still be able to switch to 'internet+mms' (/switch on the existing APN) during those times that I do need my data for internet?

Yes you'd go back into access point names and select the old apn

You actually need to create and choose a new koodo one but use spp.koodo.com and change the apn type to default. Then select it
