Galaxy Note 3 - models

I want to but a Note 3 but I am wondering:
a) if bought in USA - will it work here?
b) what is the differences between the various models. Thanks!

You need the model that has the HSPA+ 850/1900 band/frequency. Each carrier might carry a different type that his different bands. You need to research which companies in the US carry which ones and see if they have the proper band.

They're also region locked on top of being carrier locked so make sure you get a North American model.

Debbie, Note3's aren't that hard to locate our side of the border, so I wouldn't bother if I was you. Simply locate a SM-N900W8 (which is the Canadian variant), get it unlocked and you'll be fine. All Canadian carriers who sell the Note3 have the same model, including Wind.

By doing this, you also won't have to pay duties and you'll have an already unlocked bootloader if you're into that sort of things :)

(US models, except for the SM-N900T (T-Mobile), have a locked bootloader).

verison phones are good to go, no region or carrier lock if it has a clean esn and if the carrier finish their plan.
