Galaxy S6 Making weird noises when charging!

So this morning I was charging my phone, I kept hearing this hissing sound, like air was coming out of something. I had no idea what it was until I turned off my tv and tried to figure out where the noise was coming from. I've heard this hissing sound before but never did figure out where it was coming from until this morning. I had my phone charging on my night table beside my bed and when I lay back down, boom it hit me,it was coming from my phone! I can put the charger in it now and the sound is still there, like a gurrgling, static noise! Weird!
I guess what I am asking is,is this normal? Is my battery dying? It's not gonna explode like you hear about on the internet sometimes (lol)
Anyone else experience this before?

Hi Gerry,

That definitely does not sound normal! I've used several different phones and never have I heard a battery making hissing sounds. I would recommend you bring it in to a kiosk so that it can be sent out to be checked out as soon as possible!

Is it coming from the phone or the charger it's self? I know all my fast/quick chargers with multiple devices all make a hissing sound as well and only noticed it because like you my devices sit on my side table beside my bed and so my head is only a couple feet from the charger while laying down. I personally never thought anything of it but only because I have multiple devices that do it so I wouldn't worry about it.

If it's actually coming from the phone well that may be something to worry about.

Hello Gerry.

It's most likely the transformator in the charging wall plug. Is it some kind of high pitched noise. If the noise is not from the charger itself but from the battery do like suggested above.

It only happens while plugged in and charging.I can't really tell if it's the phone itself or the charger to be honest,I'm assuming the charger is making the noise because when I unplug, the noise goes away.I've read a few threads and it seems this may be a "normal" thing with fast/quick chargers.
For now I won't worry too much about it,it could have been this way since I purchased the phone and I'm just today really taken notice to it.I'll just keep an eye on it from now on while charging. It has never over heated or got hot before but I'm concerned enough to not leave it alone while charging from now on.And I'll do some more reading on the interwebs to see what I can find out.

You could put the phone under a pillow and approach your ear to the charger and see if the noise is coming from there and vice-versa

Well guys,it is most definitely coming from the bottom of the phone where the charger connects and not the wall outlet part! Would that mean it's coming from the phone?

If so,should I be concerned maybe?

I don't know for sure. I don't have my S6E with me since it is my secondary phone but I'd call Samsung to make sure everything's alright.

Having another issue with my GS6 the past week or more! I usually try to charge my phone close to bedtime so I wake up to a close to full battery life.
This past week or more I've woken up to critical battery life probably 5 out of the last 7 mornings. And this is even after a full charge or close to it every night before bed. All apps shut down and nothing running save for my weather app,and that's only set up to update every 4 hrs. Last night I even put my phone into battery saving mode at 88% and still woke up to it being critically low at 14%!!
I've checked battery usage and there doesn't seem to be anything running other then the ones that need to run.(OS,Screen, etc) Every app that comes pre-installed I have disabled too! Except FB.(but I believe that only updates when I open the app,at least thats the way I think I have it set up)
This phone is not even a year old yet and I think the battery is dying already! Anyone please have any advice or opinion or similar experience with this and what can be done to fix it?
Do you think Samsung will take it back? Is it maybe a faulty battery? Maybe Marshmallow will fix it whenever it's released? I dunno,I'm not feeling to good about any of the above but would appreciate any advice!

Thanks

Hi Gerry,

That is definitely odd behaviour. If you want, you can try performing a factory reset and see if it helps the situation, but at this point I would strongly suggest you send it out for repair. Considering the sounds it was making while charging, and now this type of behaviour, I am thinking your battery is faulty. As long as there is no liquid damage or signs of physical damage, the repairs will be covered under the warranty

Use your warranty I say. First call in but they'll tell you to factory reset in all likelihood before anything else. May as well do that too then. You have to crack open an S6E to get at the battery so it's not so simple for yourself unless you have a tool set to do it. It could be corroded leads (doubt it with the noise it's making), it could be the battery itself, it could be the charging port. Hard to tell without having the device to look at myself. Samsung/Koodo will try to have it fixed under warranty first.

The sudden drop in the charge rate usually points to a defective battery. Odd for a phone that's less than a year old. However, charging habits can play a role in the overall lifespan of a battery. The second problem is the noise heard at the charging port. There could be bent or broken pins in the charging port or the micro USB charging cable causing arcing which might sound like hissing or crackling.

Before you send the phone in for repair, try a different micro USB cable and see if you hear the same sounds. If so, then I agree with everyone else that the phone should be sent in for warranty work asap.

Thanks for all the advice/help folks!
I factory reset my S6 last night (hate doing that,so tedious getting it back the way you want it)LOL
I fully charged it,there was only a slight hissing while charging, not as bad as it was before.
It was at 99% when I went to bed and when I got up it was at 98% but,I put it in airplane mode accidently! Would this make a difference in battery drain even if the battery was faulty? Meaning,if it was a faulty battery,it would still drain in airplane mode?

Oh and just a question about the warranty...I tried,I don't know if it was successful or not,to root my phone a few months ago. I know this voids my warranty but not knowing a lot about it or what I was doing I don't think I was successful. Is there a way to know if it was rooted or not?

Airplane mode should not matter, if your battery is defective then it will happen regardless if it's in airplane mode or not. As for your root, download the root checker on your phone and it will be able to tell you if your phone is rooted or not.

Yeah that is what I was thinking Mathieu.
Just downloaded Rootchecker and it says "Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device"
So my warranty isn't void?

My battery life seems to be gone back to normal after the factory reset.
I'll monitor it for another few days and hopefully it stays normal. If not,i'll call Samsung and get it sent in to get looked at.

In that case your phone is not rooted!

Root access by itself won't void the factory warranty. Unlocking the bootloader will. If you haven't tripped any counters, or you decided against unlocking the bootloader, then the phone is still under warranty.

I freaking hate Android I'm turning to apple possibly. I'm tired of one phone having so many problems. I have stupid gurgling noises and its the phone. So yea I'm half tempted to throw the phone at Sprint and say tame your poorly made Chinese manufactured hunk of #@%& back.

And why are you coming to a Koodo forum to bellyache about Sprint?
