First thing I woul do is recommend taking out the battery and putting it back in because that could fix these types of buggy issues.

If you're within 15 days of purchase, you can go back and exchange it for another unit or exchange it for an entirely different phone (and pay any difference).

Hi Stephanie,

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with your GS4, I've been running mine since launch and have been quite happy with it.

Edit: Before moving on to my suggestions, give Ahmad's suggestion of taking out the battery first.

Did you update it to the latest version? If not, try to do the update and see if that helps you out a bit. If you are up to date, consider doing a factory reset. Whenever I did have any issues with it, a quick factory reset resolved all of them. If you do a factory reset and are still experiencing issues, let us know or contact Koodo directly. If you are within your first 14 days with the phone, you can always exchange it if you believe you have a defect.

Unfortunately I have had the phone 4 weeks now ,I called customer service for help and was told I had to turn mobile data off all the time to ensure wi fi connection.!?! ..the phone will read incoming calls but not texts ...like my windows phone, no solution or advise given. I will try your suggestions.
THANK YOU ! for you response !
