I am existing koodo customer. I want to switch my plan to 10gb $60 BYOD plan. When I checked in the store they adviced me to call customer service. I have been trying to call them from morning. They put me on hold to talk with loyalty department and then they are discoonecting the call. Frustated with koodo and planning to move to new carrier

Hi Vikas,

With all the additional calls coming in there are some strange things going on. If your phone is already unlocked, it might just be easier to go over to Fido or Virgin to benefit from the same deal as Koodo without the need to wait on the line for hours on end in a chance to get the same promo deal which might not be guaranteed since you arn't activating a new line or a new account.

Hi Vikas,

Like Mathieu just said above, its easier to just switch since you're already out of contract. But if you want to wait.... this is what happened to me below:

I just called in, waited 2 hours, got someone, told them "Hey, straight up, just want to switch my plan over to the promo one" "yeah sure, let me take a look, please hold" ....after 5 minutes "alright sir, its all been done, have a nice day"

No problem for me other than the long wait on the phone, but thats a given seeing that they prob have 500-600 reps maybe 600-800 including the overseas ones. Its a great promo, you can't expect them to have 100,000 employees for the 100,000 people that are currently calling.

My friend, co-worker and my other line with Fido, same thing, existing clients just asked, and after a couple minutes, they changed it. Though, one of them had to talk to loyalty which was another 2 hour wait.
My Telus line as well, just got it switched.

The carriers aren't really losing customers, because for everyone they lose, they are gaining one from the other carriers. It's all the same!

Thanks Mathieu and Chopstix21 for your quick reply.

I am thinking to switch to Telus tomorrow.

just remember, by switching to the "big three" like bell rogers and telus (even tho telus owns koodo), yes you're still getting this promo plan, however, when the time comes for you to get a new phone and you want to go on a contract, those prices/plans from the big three are going to be much higher than going with their sister companies like koodo, fido, virgin.... just saying maybe try Fido or Virgin, Virgin has good customer service too. even tho they are owned by bell, Virgin's department (even tho its Bell employees at the call centre like Koodo and Telus) try to make their service above par.!

"Hey but at least you get free GB of data for 2months.". That is what one guy told me today for 3 minutes of a 9.5 hour on hold sequence. Such a joke. How is that a 2 month of data for free a "gift" when we can't get the is 10GB for 60 bucks??
