The answer to this depends on your current tab balance (if any) and can be determined by logging in self serve and clicking the Tab menu

First make sure there is no remaining tab (she can check on her Self Serve account) For getting a phone for $0 upfront, you have a couple of options.
You can pick a tab;
Tab S - $150 off any phone
Tab M- $300 off any phone (requires plan over $30 or any of the current plans)
All tabs are cleared automatically after 2 years at which point you can upgrade again.
The moto G, Nexus 5, Alcatel idol touch x+, s4, and note 2 are all solid options to choose from. :)

Perfect then you can upgrade whenever you like.

Whatever you decide on. Avoid the galaxy ace iix if it's presented to you as an option. It's a giant waste of plastic and glass.

That phone needs to just go away. The Moto G crushes it in pretty much every category except removable battery and micro SD (offset by the updated version on Rogers/Fido that has LTE and micro SD support) and the Core is a much better budget-minded Samsung phone than the Ace II X is.

If you're on a budget and/or want a cheap or $0 down small Tab phone, the Core, Moto G, or Lumia 635 are all recommendations from myself, having used all of them.

if she brought her own phone from the beginning , she should have a decent amount of positive tab by now...definitively go with Moto G , the best budget phone on the market!

Hehe, you're talking to someone that doesn't. But the Moto G is a great budget phone.
