Hi Lucas,

Koodo offers a tab system as well as a prepaid system, you can choose either, but getting a phone on tab may not be the best option for you since you would need to pay for 24 months (unless you had the money to buy out your tab at the time you decided to leave Koodo).

You can try prepaid as their plans are as cheap as $15 a month for a plan that includes unlimited messaging. You can also have add ons which are called Boosters which don't expire (quite a neat feature if you ask me). The only downside to prepaid is that you have to pay full price for the phone but you pay a fraction of the amount than you do on postpaid (depending on your usage). I've provided a couple links for prepaid so you have an idea of what you'd be getting into if you chose prepaid.

Hope this helps :)

Sure you can sign up for a monthly plan and pay for the phone upfront (or buy it else where).  When you do this you also qualify for the 10% off no tab discount.  You could also get the phone subsidized on a tab like Daniel said, and then when you cancel you can pay for the remainder of the phone when you cancel.  There are no penalties to cancel.  You only have to pay for the remainder of your subsidy.

Note that when you are ready to cancel, you will need to call in to Koodo to do it
