On March 12 2018 I was mugged for my phone I immediately went to the store to cancel the phone and deal with the issue of getting another asap. I found Easthills had NO STOCK and the sales rep. kept walking away from me to answer other client's questions. Once I settled for a phone I DIDN'T LIKE the Rep told me straight out that I couldn't have the phone on a medium tab that it qualified for unless I took a new data package WHICH WAS THE ORIGINAL I HAD JUST WORTH 20.00 MORE A MONTH AND IT DID NOT COME WITH ANYTHING NEW OR MORE DATA OR ANYTHING. I would like to know if this is legal I feel like I was held hostage if I wanted a new phone I had basically agree to keep my package but pay more for it. How is this right on any level? Koodo you are acting like a greedy corporate pig with this move and I am honestly Not pleased with the service or being held at gun point to pay more for Less.

Essentially what you are doing in a hardware upgrade. As with any service provider (Not just koodo) if you do an upgrade you do need to choose one of the current plans.  If you do not wish to change phones, you can purchase the phone outright and an new SIM card.  You can also look at the used sites like craigslist or Kijiji for a phone and buy a new SIM from Koodo.

I am sorry for your mugging, I can only imagine how frightening it was.

hi Lisa,
What plan are you on right now? was your plan eligible for a Tab?

Also. what phone you were trying to buy?
No one force you change your plan, but you need to pay more upfront if your plan is not eligible for each Tab size.

You can keep the plan you have doing a hardware upgrade and depending on how much it is a month determines what tab size you are allowed.

The link below explains it but I have heard that tab small requires a minimum $35 tab now instead of $30. I dont know if this is actually true because they havent updated the link where if it was true you'd think they would.

I've definitely seen changes on the minimum base plan prices/tab entitlement.
Pretty sure it's $30 for tab small and $45 for tab medium-
Small may have recently changed to $35- would not be surprised.

I've also heard of special exceptions being made to keep old plans in place via a call to loyalty.
It all depends on the situation.
