Network dropping & phone reboot on Google Pixel XL

Hey everyone,

I am getting super frustrated with my issue and i really cannot pin point what is causing it. Here are the symptoms:

- Network randomly drops out (0 connectivity bars) then within 3-4 seconds reconnects.
- This is amplified if i am driving using GPS. It will do it multiple times while using Waze or google maps. From some trouble shooting if i am on the phone (so using 3G) the GPS operates flawlessly. Once i go back on LTE or LTE+ it disconnects and reconnects multiple times
- Randomly the phone continually reboots. Once it fixed itself but the second time i had to factory reset the phone in order to reuse it.
- While trying to connect to bluetooth phone completely shuts down. When i go to the bluetooth option it says that it is on, but once i go to more settings, its not actually on. If i turn it on there, it shuts down my wifi connectivity and shortly after freezes and restarts

This is my second phone, the first one was replaced because of the same issues - i am open to suggestions.

Google Pixel XL 32 GB very Black
Android 7.1 security patch Nov 5

Update: I presented google with the above issues and they are aware of the random rebooting. A level 2 will be calling soon to troubleshoot.

Also, i simply turn on bluetooth now, in my house, and the phone dies. it freezes and restarts - It is not trying to connect to anything in particular. Oddly, when i do turn the function off wifi cuts out with an x before it dies.

Hello Mathew.

I think this is definitely a faulty device again... Most of the problems are known as you can see here : http://www.gottabemobile.com/2016/10/28/10-common-google-pixel-problems-how-to-fix-them/

Thanks for this; Mine is riddled with many of these. It's just hard sending out the phone (again) and be phone-less during the process. Hard to imagine, they let the devices go out with these big issues - hopefully they take ownership and implement a quick solution.

Hey Matthew - I checked with our tech team this morning about this and it's been flagged as a known issue with the software. I'm told that Google will be releasing a software update that will correct this issue in the coming weeks, but no firm timeline was giving. The only workaround provided for the time being is to perform a reboot which should provide a short-term fix for the time being.

Thanks so much for the details and your effort on this. Do you suspect that any of the network dropout or GPS issues would be from a faulty SIM card? Because my issues are some what all over the play I want to do what i can do mitigate and correct what i can.

I don't believe it has anything to do with your SIM. From what was reported, the device experience random signal loss. Sometimes it comes back on it's own, sometimes a reboot is required.

If I would be in your position, I'd change the phone once again Mathew.

Just an update:

I was contacted via email by a support representative asking if i was still faced with my issues, i replied yes. About 20 minutes later it seems like an update of about 250MB was pushed to my phone. Fingers are crossed that it is the fixed i needed! :)

Yes, sorry it was a google representative. Just tested my bluetooth problem and indeed it still an issue; drops the wifi connection - freezes and restarts. Ill test the GPS issue later today.
