I recently changed from a plan with unlimited minutes to 300 Canada-wide Anytime Minutes and Unlimited Evenings & Weekends. Because I have family across Canada and in the USA, I just want to confirm my understanding of these features. (1) I understand that from Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm, Long Distance Calls from Canada (incoming and outgoing) are Unlimited; and Local calls (incoming and outgoing) come out of my 300 Anytime Minutes. (2) I understand that during Evenings & Weekends, both Local and Long Distance calls from Canada (incoming and outgoing) are Unlimited. (3) I understand that at all times, incoming calls from the USA are unlimited; however, all outgoing Long Distance calls to the USA are billed at .45 per minute. Is all this information correct?

Hi Sue,

That information is correct. When you don't have unlimited minutes in your plan when making or receiving a call during the day it goes against your anytime minutes (local or long distance). When you're on your nights and weekends you have unlimited calling in Canada. When you call to the US the current rate is $0.50/minute.

Hope that helps :)

1) Between 8am-5pm all calls local or canada wide will come out of your anytime mins
2) Correct
3) Only during weekends are Incoming calls (USA or Canada or local) are unlimited. During any other time they will use your 300 anytime minute
-Outgoing calls to the US will use your anytime minutes if between 8am-5pm PLUS $0.50/min. If it is during the evening and weekend time, USA long distance will only be $0.50/min

For $10/month you can add the "U.S. Unlimited: From within Canada to U.S." add-on to eliminate the $0.50/min US long distance charge, but your anytime minutes still apply during 8am-5pm

Nope, you've got it mixed up.

1. You have 300 minutes of Canadian airtime during the day. It doesn't matter if they're local or LD calls. All of them use minutes during the day. The "weekend" period is from Friday 5PM to Monday 8AM.

2. Yes, just not to #s outside Canada. There are separate rates for that.

3. Incoming calls from anywhere in the world still use minutes unless it's during your evenings/weekends window. The outgoing rate to the U.S from Canada is 50c/min + it uses your minutes if it's the daytime period. This can be reduced to 5 cents/minute for a $3 flat rate per month with the International LD saver, but minutes still apply during daytime..

Thank you all for your clarifications. The information I listed in my question was given to me by a representative of Koodo Mobile today. Although I checked and double checked with him that I understood correctly, I just couldn't believe that Long Distance Calls made and received in Canada, were unlimited 24/7, but local calls were only unlimited on evenings and weekends. It makes more sense to me that both local and long distance calls (incoming and outgoing) would only be unlimited during evenings and weekends.

Incidentally, I have sent an email to Koodo Mobile regarding this discrepancy. If I hear anything different than what you've told me today, I'll post it on this site.
