Where would you be getting the phone?

It'll work for 3g but for lte to work you're going to need a specific model number.

For what carrier ? If it's Telus you may not need to unlock it. Otherwise koodo can unlock it for you do for a fee on activation.

you can either buy the phone out right or buy it through a Bell plan. I'm not a fan of Bell.

Generally if it works on bell it'll work on Koodo. You may be eligible to have Costco or bell unlock it since you'll be buying it outright.

Bell is required to offer an unlock, but I believe you need to have a bell plan for them to bill it to you (I don't think it's something that can be done in store).

Unfortunately their terms of service aren't very helpful...
