Expensive call from States -to and from own phone number

Hubby just returned from trip out west and spent a couple of days in the States. No issue being charged $5.00 for small bit of data and $5.00 for a few texts however he was charged $27.00 for one phone call. He insists he didn't call anyone. The bill shows his phone number as placing and receiving the call. Perhaps he pocket dialed himself.  Pretty expensive pocket dial. Any way to get this amount reduced??? The small bit of data was because he forgot initially crossing the border to put phone in airplane mode. Would this have prevented the phone charge?

Probably you won't be able to reduce charge for the pocket dial but you can always call Koodo directly and try anyway. You have nothing to lose.

Putting phone in an airplane mode would prevent it definitely but it would cut your Hubby from any communication, as well. Unless on Wi Fi.

A call To / From the same number suggests the call was to a private number (one who has call display turned off). Since the system cannot display the number called ( or who called) it is reported as being to and from your own number.

Pocket dialing one's own number would lead to the voicemail system.
