I'm looking at becoming a new Koodo customer, buying a Samsung Mega.

It's mid-November now- Is it worth waiting a few days/weeks to buy a new phone and purchase a plan from Koodo? I'm just wondering if waiting for the Christmas sales will be a better option.

(I'll be looking to get at least 2 gigs of data a month and I'd like unlimited evening/weekend Canada-wide calling- so one of the bigger plans)

Nobody will know unfortunately until Koodo actually announces any deals. Just keep an eye on their plans and devices pages and on koodo's Facebook page for any Christmas deals to pop up which I'm sure there will be soon.

Koodo had a great deal on in Ontario with double the data added to present plans but it ended yesterday. You can try calling and see if its still available but I think you missed it and will have to wait a bit for the next round of deals. Who knows we may see that extract same deal come back.

*update* if your in Ontario there's still a double data sale on the $60 plan

Celeste, by way of comparison here are two of the Canada Wide Promotional Plans deals offered in late November and December last year:

$30
150 anytime Canada-wide calling minutes,
unlimited evgs & wkends from 7 PM;
unlimited texting + picture messaging + international texting;
200 mb of data, overage at 2 cents per mb

$45
300 anytime Canada-wide calling minutes,
unlimited evgs & wkends from 5 PM;
unlimited incoming calls
unlimited texting + picture messaging + international texting;
500 mb of data, overage at 2 cents per mb
Both plans had voice mail, call display, waiting and conferencing

In early spring, I switched to a new $45 plan that had 400 minutes and 1 gb of data. I'd watched for that if I were you.

The plan Paul mentioned ($60 Canada wide data plan with double data), sounds like it would fit what you mentioned perfectly. I don't know if youll see the same deals as last year, but I know everyone is hoping to see things get a little better than they are right now.

The one really nice thing Celeste, is that even if you activate today, you can always switch to any promo plan that launches. So you can activate now, but just watch the Koodo page and check the plans every once in a while and if something better launches....switch to the better plan.

A customer service representative advised me to wait a few more days for holiday promotions as opposed to buying into their regular promotions that are being offered at the moment.

Plans or Phones?

Plans won't change that much and even if they do, you can always switch to it. Also, for phone prices/gift cards, if you buy now then you're safe either way: goes up, then you're safe. Goes down within 14 days, then you can ask the store to give you the difference.

Customer service reps find out about new deals at the same time as the rest of the world. Anyone who told you to wait because new deals are coming is guessing.

Booth at Zerhs has "early boxing day sale" for Motto G new activation, U get $100.00 in gift cards, I believe. I know it's not a Samsung deal, but it is a Christmas season deal.

Sad part is the Moto G runs faster and smoother with its quad-core processor and has a higher resolution screen but is significantly cheaper. Note II I can understand because it's still a reasonable phone size and has cool S Pen features but the Mega is just a small and expensive underpowered tablet that can call/text.

Very true Johnathon, but as they say, each to their own. I get heat for getting Moto G but I really like the size, screen and speed. Added 4 apps and still have 4.5G space. I also noticed that I get dropped less when using hot spot versus s2x, which I gave to my wife.
