Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. It is PIN protected. At the moment I cannot unlock it. It asks me to "Enter unlock PIN", but touching the but touching the keypad does not have any effect. The "Enter unlock PIN" then disappears and the screen goes black. Power stays on. How can I get back in?

Could be a defective screen... But have you tried taking out the battery for a minute, rebooting it, then trying again?

I used to deal with this issue frequently at my old job, unfortunately you will probably need to replace your sim card.

I took out the battery and the sim card, left them for a bit and then rebooted. The same thing happened. It does seem like the screen is not reacting anymore. It didn't fall, and it is still under warranty. So I should probably go to the store.

It's a SIM issue, as I said used to take lots of calls on the same thing when I was working tech support. If you buy (or if you're lucky enough and koodo gives you a free one) a SIM card the issue will be resolved.

Thank you Perdy and Jonathan. It was indeed the SIM card. Luckily still under warranty!

I should have clarified if it was a SIM lock PIN or a phone password PIN because a call to Koodo would have solved a SIM lock pin issue.

I bought a SIM unlocking pin before travelling to Europe. I received an e-mail with directions and PIN #. Wondering if this procedure would work in Europe, before leaving I called Koodo and the operator told me that my phone, Galaxy S III, was unlocked by her in real time right during the phone call. In Europe I bought a SIM from TIM and, guess what, my phone was not unlocked, the phone was asking for the unlocking PIN (that I entered) but it did not work. Result: I spent $35 for an unlocking PIN that did not work, I am in Europe with a phone that is useless. I wonder why Koodo is locking phones if they are not able to unlock these phones as Koodo is legally required to do. Is it possible to get in touch with someone who can effectively perform the unlocking process without any further waste of time?

You might have better lock posting a new thread instead of bumping one thats over a year old.
But none of us can unlock the phone for you.
You have to just call Koodo and explain the situation.

Mitchell Palmater, you are a funny guy. If you read carefully you will find out that my post is ONE WEEK old not one year old. Again, if you read carefully you will find out that, before leaving for my destination, I called Koodo to make sure that the unlocking of my phone was going to be successful following the procedure I received as an SMS from Koodo. Since my trust is very limited, as proven by this occurrence, I called Koodo and the agent I talked to on the phone unlocked my device while I was on line, therefore in real time.  I asked at least three times if  my phone was unlocked for real and three time I got assurance of the success of the operation. When the time came, I changed the SIM Card and, here we are, the phone was asking for the unlocking PIN. I typed the PIN and, here we are, it did not work.
I repeated from scratch the unlocking procedure, as it was explained to me by Koodo, and it did not work. Mitchell Palmater, is it clear now?

Tiz. You are a funny guy as well.
You posted in a thread, that is over a year old.
If you scroll to the top, you will notice the date.
I'll tell you again, Only the people at customer service can unlock your phone.
If you cannot use the phone still, it is just incompatible with their network.
Hope that is clear enough for you.
Best of luck.

Hi guys. Just saw your exchange. It was a phone lock password. And all is good now. Thanks again. We can close this chapter now. Lol
