we are in an area that is flat land with few trees mountains. Why when I go to make a call, it comes up "Emergency calls only". I have shut the phone down and restarted and it still won't allow me to make the calls I need to make. This is not the first time that this has happened and it is really starting to p... me off Grrr !

Turn the phone off, take out the battery and SIM card, put battery and SIM card back in, see what happens.

Hope that helps

HI mona, if you have an HSPA phone (sim card phone) remove the back cover of the battery, then remove the battery , look for a sim card in the back side of the phone slide it out, make sure the golden part faces down to your phone and slide it back in , put the battery and the cover back in , turn it on, and it should work.
also you can try looking into the phone settings , networks and connections (also see connectivity) and make sure the Mobile network its on.
i hope that works for you Mona , if not try calling koodo at *611 from your mobile or 1866-995-6636 from a land line.
have a good day

Another thing to check is to make sure you have 3G turned on in your phone and you don't have it set to GSM or 2G only.

Maybe you are in the 1% where Koodo don't cover, but it would be surprising.

My phone worked until this morning, when I went to use it, it says emergency calls only and won't let me text or use the phone

Maybe your phone is locked to network provider, you cant use different sim except for koodo, you can request for unlock code by submitting your phone model no. and IMEI find it at back of your phone

If the phone worked with koodo yesterday and doesn't work today the problem is clearly not a network lock.

Same thing happened to me this morning.  Powered the phone off, and then back on again....it fixed itself.   I had dropped the phone on the ground the night before and this might have caused it.)
