Easy Roam useless

We signed up for the Easy Roam option for a trip to Florida but other than calls placed on the trip down we got "No Network Available" messages for all calls attempted while in Florida. Our bill shows airtime used but no conversation took place. Text messages seemed to go through OK. What a waste of our money

It worked great for us while we were in Florida in December.  I didn't change any settings or do anything different.  Before we left I bought roaming minutes and data.  When we arrived in the States a message said Welcome to the US and my phone rang and worked as usual.  Perhaps you had roaming turned off while you were there?

With Easy Roam® you use your existing phone plan when you travel so minutes and data are the same as my regular phone plan. All phone settings were the same as at home nothing was turned off.

Marian, I think you're talking about prepaid because you don't buy minutes/data with easy roam. It's a price per day.

Yes you are right. Sorry, I don't have any experience with postpaid.  I have Prepaid and love it because the minutes I bought before I left never expire and I can use them on my next trip to the States.

It's impossible to get a no network ans still get messages through. Are you trying to tell usa that the calls you made didn't connect?

What I stated is correct. All settings were normal but a No Network Available message was received each time a call was placed while in Florida but did connect in Georgia and Tennessee.

Next time you should, as suggested above, restart the phone OR you could try and connect to another network to see if it's a network related problem.

We did try a restart which had no effect. I just want to know how 2 to 5 minutes of airtime was used with each call attempt when a No Network Available message was received and no call/conversation took place? Basically we payed $56 for nothing.

You'll need to contact Koodo directly to see if a ticket can be opened if anything can be figured out.

You can also contact them asking for a refund even if partially, since you never got to successfully talk yet paid 56 dollars.

I tried that as well but basically since some of the text messages went through although delayed and airtime was used they are not willing to reduce the bill. I am honestly fed up with their lack of customer support and would change carriers except I get a substantial discount through my work place.

I would try to contact Koodo again and explain the situation in a calm and professional manner.  If you donot believe you received a resaonable response, you can always file a complaint with the CCTS

Regular Koodo account, no physical faults just crappy service. I will not use this service again.

Koodo cannot and does not guarantee service while roaming. All easy roaming does is modify how you're billed for services you use. Koodo doesn't own the foreign networks and therefore can't know for sure you'll have service. Things may have changed in the place you're in since the last time you were there. Including roaming agreements .

Obviously people are not reading my post or I have not made it clear. The only change in years of travel to Florida is the Easy Roam Plan, everything else is exactly the same, location, phone, local provider and no other issues at home or out of country. I will not respond to any further comments.

Except something may have changed in the area network that you're not aware of. Easy roaming does not change the way your device or services function, it's simply a billing code. l will not make further comments.

Roaming is always done "at the mercy of" the local partner network, no matter who your provider is at home.
