Do we have an option of paying e911 fees ??? If this is an Alberta government fee like the koodoo rep told me over the phone, then I should be able to call the govt. to make sure they are getting this monthly fee.(btw no one could help regarding this at the Alberta government) . As I did not sign up for this I feel it should only be charged if I actually dialled the 911 number. Sooo tired of being nickeled and dimed all the time . Show me a letter from the Alberta Government that this is actually is a requirement from them. Or is this just another tactful way of telus/koodoo to ding their customers once again.

The thing is that the 911 operators still need to be paid even if nobody calls. Otherwise they go home and don't answer when somebody does.

This is what tax is - you're paying a piece of everyone's bill so the service is available for everybody.

Here in Quebec they've had a 911 fee for years and if my $0.40 a month means somebody can get an ambulence when they need it, I'm actually pretty okay with that.

There. Official government legislation. It's $0.44, not 5 bucks a month or something...

Where is the five bucks coming from? No one charges that, right?
