I was considering switching to Koodo from another service provider. But it looks like the double data promo just ended. Any idea when something like this will happen again?

You would need to check the website or FB page. Unfortunately, no now knows when this will come back!

Thank you. Any idea how frequently these promos have come up in the past? Also, I noticed that Virgin had a similar promo that ended around the same time as Koodo's.

Yup... all the carriers are in bed with one another these days.

These days as in forever?

It's usually only a few times a year. There used to be some great Christmas deals but this year was a little soft on those. I would wait until back to school season around August but keep checking in every few weeks.

Ok thanks. I will stick with Wind and their incredibly slow data speeds for now then.

Shaw officially acquired Wind a month or so ago. You'll notice speeds start to pick up over time, and as Shaw pours billions into network expansion, you'll quickly want to never leave Wind and hold onto 40/50 for 5/8GB for dear life. Shaw publicly stated that they're going to raise prices over time to be between current price points, and Big 3 pricing.

If you really want to leave Wind, then I agree with Jonathan, and expect the next round of promos to be August. It really depends on which of the big 3 pulls the trigger first and by how much.

I recently switched from Bell to Wind after my contract expired. Wind's pricing is right but the speed drop has been difficult to cope with. I'm aware of Wind's planned network upgrades but i'm also aware that it probably won't be completed until 2017. I'm looking forward to this but until then I'll keep considering my options.

It'll be more of an ongoing process, and less one day suddenly speeds go from 4mbps to 30. Depends on what you consider acceptable, really. I understand RE continually looking. Hopefully improvements will be noticed sooner than later.

Wind's speed was never an issue for me when I was with them - it was the connection stability. And since a stable connection is required for my work, I didn't want to deal with it. If it was for personal use, I could've managed.
