I just want to know where the cutoff line is for when Koodo starts to charge $$ for data. I am on a monthly $29 plan so I have no data to begin with and I checked the plans and it said $7 per 50mb was it? However, it doesn't state when it starts to charge it. Can someone give me a link or tell me when they start charging?

That's really low of Koodo to charge $7 once the data is turned on by accident for users like me.

Actually, I'm 99.9% positive they changed how they charge for data and now they have some buffer. We have a line that doesn't have data included in its plan. 2 months in a row now we did the same as you. We used between 20-25kb each month before data was turned off on the phone. They didn't charge us once. So, I can tell you that anything under 25kb there should be no charge. Maybe even higher but that we will only know by experimenting. :-)

You know Chris, I believe you are right about the 25kb threshold... Timo would probably know for sure.

But my own point still stands: that is NOTHING. Koodo should throw in 5 or even 10 MB heck why not eliminate the $34 plan with 50MB and change that into the $29 one and then take it from there...

To me, even 50MB is ridiculously low but will at least cater to accidental usage for people who don't want data but do want to use MMS.

OR! Allow a data block while MMS is still possible! *slowly crawls off high horse, lol!*

I hear you....I don't know if the threshold is 25kb or higher. But you are right, according tho Koodo's own data calculator, clicking on an average web page or facebook is going to eat up about 250kb of data. ( The lowest I could set is 4 page visits and zero everything else, which told me it would 1MB. Then I just did the math.)

You're charged after you go over 25kb. There is that threshold.

Depending on your phone you can turn off data. You can also call Koodo for free (*611 on a Koodo cell) to get them to add a data block on your account

Does the *666 line have the same availability hours as the other customer service phone #?

Yes, both get you connected to Koodo. They are closed now but will be open tomorrow again. It's *611 btw and it will be a free call :)

Sorry about the charge, I agree it's rather low actually but what can you do :( Several of us Mobile Masters have complained to Koodo about it, but so far without result... we'll keep nagging :D

If you request a data block, that will prevent you from sending and receiving MMS (picture messages) as well, just a heads up!

The data block will also prevent you from sending and receiving MMS (picture and video) messages, unless you change your APN to prevent your phone from accessing anything else using data except MMS, and not do the data block.
