Does a Koodo Phone work in UK? I have an iPhone 6. Should I unlock it before I leave in case I need a UK sim?

hi helen,
If your iPhone6 was unlocked, then it should work. If it wasn't you can try to follow the instructions in this https://www.koodomobile.com/help/unlocking-your-phone if you are a current customer.

If you are not a current customer, you could send message to their facebook or call Koodo to ask for the unlock.

I am a Koodo customer. I did not know I had to unlock my phone to use it abroad. I thought unlocking was only necessary if I was exchanging the SIM. So if I unlock it, it will work with my number ?

Thanks Karl!

So, for anyone looking on willmyphonework.net and not able to find Hutchinson or Telefonica, I checked on Wikipedia and they operate 3 and O2, respectively.  So use those in the dropdown under UK.

@helen your iPhone 6 A1549 should work great in the UK.  I merged the willmyphonework.net compatbility info into the UK portion of the PDF taht @Karl linked, for your reference:

Hi Helen,

if you had issues in the past with not having reception while abroad I would go for the safest route and get a UK SIM. It would be cheaper (between 10 to 25£) and you get talk/text/data bundles.

Try those 2 companies (personal experience): Lycamobile UK or Three Mobile UK; both have 30 days Pay-as-You-Go for under 25£.

Enjoy your time on the old continent Helen.

Cheers
