My mother is moving away and she wanted to get an iPhone, so I figured I would try and get her one. The issue is, is that she is with rogers (Boo). Would I be able to buy an iPhone from Koodo and would it work with another service providers simcard?

If you buy any HSPA phone (iPhone included) with Koodo it will be locked to Koodo. After three months with the phone and no past due amount owing you can contact Koodo customer service to unlock the phone at a $50 cost.

But if you buy an iPhone directly from Apple it will be unlocked.

Why don't you get your mother switched? She would pay less with koodo.

She may not necessarily pay less or get what she wants. She may have some super grandfathered cheap talk + text plan or retention's 6GB data add-on from Rogers... or maybe she has bundle services and gets a discount and doesn't want to deal with having an extra bill.

Hi if you brought iphone in Kodoo network then you can't use it in other network provider until you unlock your iphone ..If you want to unlock your iphone then have a look at sites like here they will unlock your iphone using remote unlocking service ..Only after unlocking your iphone you can freely use it with any GSM sim ...
