I turned 18 today and I'm wondering if I would require a deposit to get a phone?

Good thing is Koodo doesn't charge any security deposits. The only way for you to find out what happens is to go somewhere that sells Koodo postpaid and try. Make sure you have 2 pieces of ID on you. 1 of these 3 are mandatory: Driver's licence/age of majority card, SIN, or Canadian Credit card. 2nd piece can be from that list or passport, Indian status card, birth certificate, and permanent resident card.

Since you have no history, you'll probably get approved for a phone but will be placed on spending limit program, which means you can't add any lines to your account and can't dial internationally for the first 9 months of consecutive, on-time payments. Again, nobody can tell you until you try.

No deposits necessary, but you may be placed on the spending limit program and may not be able to qualify for a tab. A credit check is performed for all monthly activations, whether you want the tab or not.

Oh, and happy birthday! :)

They don't have deposit system.  So, I wouldn't deal with the store asking for deposit to get phone or plan.
You might get approved for monthly plan with Tab, without Tab,  spending limit or no approve for monthly plan.

You have to go to a store and see if you can get postpaid plan.
