Do I still have to pay $30 connection fee when cancel the plan in 15 days trial period?

Yes and for however many days you used their service.

Connection fee is free if you signed up online.

I think you  have to pay the connection fee no matter whether you cancel or not.
 It should state somewhere in your contract. I haven't read the new contract after the introduction the connection fee so I am not 100% sure. However, it is likely a non-refundable fee like the SIM card cost.

If you cancel the service withing the 15 days trial-period the connection fee should be refunded.

I mean if you give the device back (if you took a phone with Koodo) and you call client care to terminate your account (port your number out) and close the account for good. Koodo will refund the 30$, that's what I've been told

If cancel the plan within the 15 day trial the connection fee is refunded. If you just return the device but maintain service then the connection fee stays on the account.
