Do I need to say goodbye to Rogers or will account be closed automatically?

Do I need to tell Rogers that I just switched to Koodo, so that they cancel my account? I kept the same cellphone number. My 3-year contract with Rogers just ended and I brought my unlocked phone to Koodo, so my guess is that the Rogers account will automatically be closed. But just to make sure...

If you ported your number over from Rogers to Koodo there's no need to contact Rogers. Taking the number from their possession has already begun the cancellation. You'll receive your final bill from them soon. Just pay and it and you're done!

Welcome to Koodo!

It may take a while for the "paperwork" to process. Ronald Reagan said, "trust but verify".

If your number changed, Rodgers may be more than happy to continue billing that SIM in a basket for your old plan.

Highly unlikely. From all the experience I've had with porting numbers it typically takes a billing cycle to process. You receive the next months bill right on schedule and it includes all final charges. Done.

I've ported hundreds of numbers over the last few months alone. No issue.

Justin, just to make sure I understand correctly: I changed SIM cards today. My billing cycle with Rogers ends on Feb 2. From what you say, the bill from Rogers a few days later will include all final charges, after which no more correspondence from them. Correct?

Many thanks for the input!

In theory the bill you get in a few days will be the last. I would expect your last bill to be next month though. At least that's what I would inform a customer of mine.

But as long as it was a number port that's how it will work.
