Do I need to cancel service with my old service provider when switching to Koodo?

I'm a new Koodo customer and I just transferred my number from Telus. Do I need to call Telus and cancel my service with them, or is that automatic when I transferred to Koodo? I have no balance remaining with Telus if that makes a difference.

Your account with your previous carrier will automatically cancel when you port that number to your new provider. Once there's no number attached to your account it will be closed
