Do i have to take out my Bell sim card and replace it with my Koodo sim card before transferring?

If you have activated your Koodo number, you could transfer your Bell number yourself in selfserve: https://www.koodomobile.com/help/moving-your-phone-number

You need to put your Koodo SIM in the phone to use Koodo service. The Bell SIM will be deactivated (by Bell) once your port your Bell number into Koodo in selfserve. But there is no need to do that before transferring.

No there's no need for that. Being in a phone or not is not related to the porting process. Be sure to get someone who is with Koodo to refer you so both you and the person get a 50 dollar credit.
