Do I have to buy a plan if the monthly cost is $0?

So I saw that I can get a refurbished LG G3 for $240 on the website. It says that that is the price of the phone, and there is no monthly charge (so no plan or tab). If I wanted to get this phone, could I buy it without a plan, and just pay $240 right now? Or do I have to buy a plan if I want it? To clarify, is this like buying it outright? Or am I committing to some sort of term or contract? I have put a screen shot of the page to help out.

I am looking at the option that says "Retail Price".

If you're an existing customer and already have a plan then yes, otherwise the system won't let you check out without choosing a plan.

That being said, you could always activate the lowest plan for one month and then cancel. But you'd be responsible to pay for that month.

Another option is to find a friend who is a koodo customer and pay them to get the phone for you.

Thanks, that's a great idea! So I'm not bound to any contract, right? They will let me do what you suggest and cancel after one month?

Just a side-note.
If you want to buy it for 240 and have service with Koodo, there is no fixed-term commitment.
If your intention is to take it to another provider, you will have to get it unlocked from Koodo.

Cool phone tho :-)
