Did I read Easy Roam would be automatic as soon as the border is crossed? I live near the border and get daily texts from Koodo with roam options as it seems to assume I've crossed the border. So this will add $7 to my daily bill even though I never left Canada. No thanks!

You have to add it, then it's automatic (meaning you dont have to remove it)

Thanks, yes I know that. I was explaining why I will never add it.

I would suggest choosing Koodo as your network under carrier settings. Then you don't have to bother with those pesky you're in the US texts anymore!

Just as with any roaming fees, you will only be charged if you call, text or use data while connected to a non Canadian tower.

Ah, ok. So as long as roaming is 'turned off', it won't connect to a nearby US tower. Thanks. After reading the many comments, it still looks like a US sim card is still the best option. I travel 30 days at a time in the US and only use available free wifi but looking for affordable data for convenience. Up to now the $20 thirty day unlimited texting add-on has been great and all I've used. Some data would be nice but only if it's affordable over a thirty day period.
