Should I switch now to Koodo with September and October bills coming up on a dead Samsung Galaxy Vibrant S and my contract ends in the 1st week of November or go do it now and get a new phone and provider and incur breakup fees including number porting

That is entirely up to you, Allan, nobody can decide over your finances :)

Depending on how much Bell charges for breaking their contract, you could sign up with Koodo now with a new phone and new (temporary) number. Once your Bell contract is over, you can then port your number to Koodo. In other words, make it a two stage transfer.

You can also buy a phone from a third party direct, if it is unlocked you can use it with Bell now until November and then sign up with Koodo and start using that phone with Koodo, you can get 10% off your plan if you do that.

The choice is yours, let us know what you decide!

The other option too is that if your cancellation fee would be less than the two months you have remaining, you may be more beneficial to switch sooner than later. Plus you would be moving to a great service provider and you would more than likely save money by switching over the long term.

Just my thoughts :)

Koodo has been rated number 1 for customer satisfaction for the past 4 years by JD Power and Associates. I also find that Koodo has treated me the best compared to other companies I`ve been with.

Even if the price is the same or slightly higher than what you`re paying now, I would recommend switching to Koodo for a better experience.

well....Bell rep told me that if I left now it would be about $ 118.00 plus $23.00 for data kill fee....but that it would go down as time went on with my plan...

Well for that $141 (and a bit) you can actually get a pretty nice (basic) phone, Allan. Consider the Moto G for example, you can buy it from anyone and then unlock it for another $5 or less.

I would probably recommend you stay with Bell till the end of the contract, then sign up with Koodo with either a brand new high end phone, or keep using your unlocked Moto G (or whatever) and choose the 10% discount.

As I said before though it's up to you, all we can do is suggest possibilities :)

Oh let me I repost another option:

"Alcatel OneTouch Pop Icon on the cheap, this week, $30 off at FutureShop! Telus Prepaid @ $119.99! Starts Friday!
Telus Prepaid also has $10 off the Huawei Y330 @ $69.99!"

(thanks, David)

I assume those phones will work with Koodo right away, but will need to be unlocked to use with Bell.

I'm going with Nexus 5....but,it probably wouldn't be that much of a breakup fee come the week before Halloween and when my contract ends on Nov 3rd

and The Source rep said my phone is outright dead....so I'm paying for a phone I can't use....only bright side is it might paydown breakup fee
